Vulcan XH 558 flies past against a grey sky
Polish Air Force Mig grounded by British weather!
The pictures say it all - dull and windy on Saturday but we did get the Vulcan flypasts, (the V models also flew, but the BBMF Dakota had to cancel because of high winds at its base). Sunday weather was awful -even the Polish Air Force Mig (see picture) could not consider intercepting any further Vulcan flights!
However the people who did attend the Saturday event appeared to enjoy themselves. We do realise that some of you may not have met up with anyone you knew, but we hope that you appreciated the overall atmosphere around the site. - Two BBC film crews were present interviewing and gathering material for future programmes and Ricky Crowder did appear on the local TV news at 1830!
The evening at the golf club had a great atmosphere and an excellent buffet was very much appreciated.
Overall the attendance was down on last time with an appreciable number of "no shows" (a combination of weather and old father time?) However the groundcrew "signing in" table was busier than ever.
Financially we struggled to break even this time - we do have to set aside an amount so that we can pay for materials ( badges etc) and give an honorarium to John for running the excellent website which is our vital publicity vehicle. Any future reunions may require a little re-jigging re costings and we will canvass at a later date.
There are couple of clips of the flypast on You Tube - try searching for "Vulcan Newark" Finally we would welcome any pics from you for the website gallery.
Thanks a lot to those who came along and made this a successful reunion, and for those who couldn't make it - see you next time!
Don, Al and Mike
